The other day, Mister came in from the garden with a basket full of mini pumpkins that I'd completely forgotten about. I didn't ditch these because I'm a ding-a-ling, I forgot about them because the gourds were over achievers and completely covered these teeny pumpkins. We still have more of these . . .
More garden goodness!
This year has been something when it comes to everyone near us having a plethora of produce. We've exchanged garden produce at the gym and as I've mentioned in an earlier post, produce has gone to work with Mister, has been placed in the teachers' boxes at school, left at the staff lounges, . . .
The Chevy Chase movie has ended.
I think that after approximately six weeks of fighting a lone gopher in our backyard, Mister was beginning to resemble Chevy Chase in "Caddyshack." However, Mister has finally conquered the varmint! Almost daily, I would look out our north or east facing windows, to see Mister hauling a cart with . . .
An apoctolyctic amount of nectarines!
This past Saturday, our lone nectarine tree yielded an amazing amount of fruit! I mean, an apocalyptic amount of nectarines. As in, a high probability of black and white Cold War photos of bomb shelters with nectarines lining the shelves in the background. See the photo below. This harvest . . .
Stayin’ Regular
Well, once again, the daily harvest has produced more fiber for us to consume. This is just what I picked out of the garden today. If I'd stayed in the garden longer, picking the grape tomatoes off the plants, I would've required a bottle of water and a light snack. Besides, I may get lost as the . . .
Labor Day was a day of labor.
On Labor Day, my morning began with a glamorous run to the grocery store, sporting a baseball cap, sans makeup (and kids)! I'm a smart enough gal to know that grocery runs can be more efficient and enjoyable with a honey latte so, I treated myself to a coffee along the way. You may be wondering . . .
Goin’ Nuts!
Holy moly. This is the season of bounty. Over Labor Day Weekend, we really lived it up. Yep, the almonds on one of our almond trees was ready to give birth. This is the first time our almond trees have produced a significant amount of nuts to actually give to friends, family and neighbors. It was so . . .
Oh yum! Ooh, no. Not yum.
Little Man came into the house from the backyard later today and announced that I had to come outside "wight now" and try these grapes! Yes, we have grapes growing along part of our wire pasture fencing. In years past, I was able to harvest them and make a nice amount of tasty jam! Then one summer, . . .
Now those are some cucmbers!
Beginning towards the end of July in southern Idaho, there have been some very hot days. Triple digits hot. When you have these hot days and go away on vacation, this is what happens to garden veggies when the garden isn't checked daily for produce that's ready to be picked. See below. Yep, I . . .
The Great Pumpkin?
So, this pumpkin pictured above, is in our garden. It's got a cousin in there too. Ha. We knew we'd planted big Jack-O-Lantern pumpkins, but we didn't know we'd planted one or two Great Pumpkins (Charlie Brown & the Great Pumpkin). *the pumpkin cousin & Kitty Notice Little Man's . . .
