Volunteering and contributing to society whether it’s people or animals, has always been something that is important to me. As a mother, I’ve had my kids volunteer with Toys for Tots, Ronald McDonald House, the Rescue Mission, etc., but it’s been consistently inconsistent. When I heard about the opportunity to become involved within our community, I jumped at this! With the Lions Family Club that has begun in our community, http://www.idaholions.org and http://lionsclubs.org, my family will now be committed to help better our town on a regular basis.
Our first family club project with the community, is painting kindness rocks and placing them throughout town. There is evidence that at times, a person who is suffering from depression, when coming across these rocks or kindness signs, will change their mind when it comes to harming themselves. It won’t save everyone but as the story about the starfish goes, throwing just one back into the ocean matters to that starfish that has been saved.
Our club is also looking into purchasing some of these signs, http://www.facebook.com/dontgiveupsigns/videos/379511395814438, to spread throughout our town. If you’re wanting to become involved in your residential area, the Lions Club is a great way to give back to your community!

How cool! We’re wanting to raise some money to place some in our town. Luckily, we may have enough funds already to purchase a few!
Have a great day!

I forgot to mention that a friend of mine, who hails from Newberg, knows the people who started these! Small world. 🙂
