Once upon a time, two elementary school teachers met. One from the plains of Nebraska, the other from the mountains of Idaho. Miss Prairie (aka Jenny) grew up in Lincoln, NE and briefly (…and I mean BRIEFLY) moved to Boise, ID after getting married. She was introduced to Mountain Chica (aka Nicole) when she landed a job at the elementary school where Nicole was teaching. The gals quickly grew to be friends… and even after Jenny moved back to NE the two kept in touch via the digital wonderland for almost TWENTY YEARS (*cough, cough* we can’t be THAT old!) before the development of this fun, quirky site!
After Idaho, Jenny and Mister Prairie moved back to Nebraska and lived the city life. They had three beautiful prairie boys (after years of infertility). They went through overseas deployments with Mister Prairie’s military career. They suffered hard financial times. They weathered the difficulty of all three kids born with a deformity of their feet called Club Foot. They lived in SEVERAL houses and moved MANY times. But, they also grew in their faith, became closer to God, found church families that supported them…. and NOW, they are feeling so content with God’s plan for them. They are settled on a small acreage and have found that the blood, sweat and tears of having a little ‘farm’ is EXACTLY what they’ve been looking for all these years.
Born and raised on a sheep ranch in southern Idaho, I left to attend college (go Zags!) and came back to teach elementary school. I met my husband in 2001… fast forward to a life in the country with three kids and nine pets (ranging from donkeys to a cat). After teaching for 15 years (10 years of first grade and five years of kindergarten), I officially stayed home full-time in 2013.
I’ve been known to be enthusiastic about good sales, good cups of coffee and the holidays (including my birthday).
I met Jenny (a.k.a. Miss Prairie) while teaching in southwestern Idaho. We have a continental divide between us, but our blog to regularly connect us.
