The other day, Mister came in from the garden with a basket full of mini pumpkins that I’d completely forgotten about. I didn’t ditch these because I’m a ding-a-ling, I forgot about them because the gourds were over achievers and completely covered these teeny pumpkins. We still have more of these in the garden that we need to get but for now, we have some decorating the fireplace mantle and in a bowl because they’re so pretty with their variation in color! I’ve given some to a friend and our maill delivery lady, with plans to give away more. I’ve been asked twice if they’re edible. Both times, I answered that if a person was really determined, I guess they could scoop out the teensy amount of pumpkin and make teensy pies. I still crack up at the visual of people with really little spoons, scooping out the pumpkin flesh.
Another garden item that we have plenty of, are these fun and funky gourds! We’re going to sell them at the end of our lane this year but no pumpkins will get to be sold since our garden had a whopping yield of seven pumpkins. Yes, a single digit number. The gourds? We have around 30-35. Yeah. We got gourds. They are super cool to look at though. So go ahead. Stare at the coolness of these beauties for a moment or two.
The beauty of these gourds, is that when Mr.Skeleton is put away, or as Little Man describes Mr.Skeleton, “the dead skelton”, the gourds can keep on setting the fall mood for the month of Thanksgiving. Oh yeah!
