Some women, when their husbands are out of town, go shopping. I, on the other hand, tend to change things up a bit at home. There was the exception the time that Mister was out of town when I, at almost four months pregnant (Little Man was the one cooking), loaded up Little Lady and Little Red, said a prayer that we wouldn’t end up on Dateline with Keith Morrison narrating, and drove to a somewhat neighboring town to buy a kid: a baby goat. Everything obviously worked out since Little Man is here and I’m typing. As for the impromptu purchase of a goat we named Hazel (she’s riding with the angels now), they are useful in eating noxious weeds, so I had that going for me.

So back to Mister being out of town. He and Little Red went camping for a couple of days. Pinterest had inspired me to paint our screen door pink. I mean I had a plethora of pink doors on one of my boards, it was obviously going to happen. I had mentioned to Mister that I was pondering the idea but I hadn’t pulled the trigger yet. The timing was too perfect. I’m already a morning gal, but when I’m excited about something, it’s like Christmas morning for me! I was up and at ’em by 7:20 Sunday morning! Screens were removed (the amount of screws!), painting tape was placed where needed, newspaper under the door covering the cement patio, painting assistant loyally lying just inside the door, and painting commenced!

Two hours later, the door was dry, tape was removed and the screens were screwed back on. I stood back and checked out my handiwork. Wha-wha. That’s how I’d describe the color of the pink against our white trim and grey house. No bueno. After I texted a photo to a friend, she mentioned me getting the paint tinted a shade darker. I’d considered it and that helped me make up my mind. Off to Sherwin Williams where they tinted a shade darker from Charming Pink to a brighter Lotus Flower. This was free of charge since I’d just bought the can and it was almost completely full. The paint that I purchased is called Snap Dry and if you already live in an arid climate, like southern Idaho, it dries in 10-15 minutes and I’m not exaggerating. It’s also got a UV protectant, which we need since our front door faces south. I bought one quart with a satin finish, $26 and some odd cents.

This new and improved color went on easily and within 30 minutes, I was finished with a pink that I absolutely loved! It just pops and is such a happy color! The girls love it, Little Man thinks it’s nice and Mister actually commented that it looks good! This is a lot easier to deal with than another goat; no hooves to trim.
