Wow! Who would guess that only 7 months into a year and it feels like the year has gone to hell in a hand basket? A virulent virus, earthquakes in Idaho and Utah and word of killer hornets. Holy beeswax. I’m good to end this crappy sci-fi story anytime. Seriously.
Last summer, to stay current with my teacher certification, I needed to take five credits. Instead, I opted for six credits so that I’d be ahead by at least one credit. Anyway, with spending so much time online, sitting in front of a computer was the last thing that I wanted to do. Yeah, no. So, this is my first blogging post since last June or July!
To keep blogging interesting, I’m typing with only nine fingers. About six to seven weeks ago, I managed to close my car door (SUV) on my right pointer finger. I’m super gifted because my finger can do the Hokey Pokey; the front of my finger went to the right and the bottom, to the left. It was disgusting. Truly. This happened at the car wash as I was smiling and waving to the mom that had been parked next to me where we had briefly chatted. One of the few times that being friendly bit me in the butt. Off to urgent care across the road we went (my oldest, Little Lady, was with me)! Four stitches later (one through the fingernail), a fractured finger and an antibiotic, and Little Lady and I were off to the store to get groceries. Little Lady should really be an EMT. This girl was so calm and cool!
Now for some happy stuff! Before all this ball of fun mentioned above began, I’d had magazine pages and pins on Pinterest of Dutch doors. Not only are they whimsical and charming, but when you’ve got four dogs, they’re very practical. As my family has witnessed on one, almost two occasions, our dogs have turned our screen doors into retractable screens. Awesome for them, not so awesome for us with flies, frogs and snakes (have I mentioned that we live in the country?) having easier access into our home.
In March, the handyman we hired, sawed our front door in half and built the little shelf. I couldn’t find the correct color of stain that matched well, so I went with a navy blue stain. Cue the alleluia music! I loved this color the instant I applied it! We also had our bedroom doors made into Dutch doors, minus the shelves, so we can have sunlight filtering the hallway but no worries of two of our dogs going tinkle on the carpets. If you’ve got dogs, I highly recommend going with interior Dutch doors! Plus, it’s fun for the kids to play coffee shop with a drive up window. Ha, ha.
