A couple of weeks ago, a group of five lovely women, myself included, ha, attended the Broadway musical Wicked. If you go to a an event, you need to go out to eat beforehand, correct? As we were breaking bread, we had a conversation about the somewhat recent service of ordering groceries online and just parking in a marked pickup area where a store employee wheels out your grocery list all bagged and ready to go. I voiced that it was handy when Little Man was an infant and I used it about two times, but now, I just go to the store. I choose to go to the store for a few reasons, Sometimes, I may forget what I need because it was last minute and didn’t make the list, where seeing an item will remind me, I prefer to be the one to pick out my produce and meat, it’s a great way for Little Man to learn about behavior expectations when out and about and most importantly, Mama (Me) sees running these errands on an early weekend morning, as an absolute treat. I’m a full on morning person anyway, so throw in some coffee and the absence of bickering about touching someone’s stuff, and I’m happy as a clam!
Take for example, the evening after our Wicked outing, I had one offspring bawling and accusing me of not sufficiently listening to her (for real), another offspring insisting on going to school even though she felt like she was getting sick (I went ahead and ordered her a hair shirt on Amazon because go big or go home, ya know?) and the last offspring began crying because I had the audacity to cut up his meal for him. He made it clear that he wanted to work on his mad cutting skills.
*the best I could find for a “hair shirt”, no horsehair shirt to be found
Enter early the next morning. I get up, get ready for the day, eat something and zoom on out of our lane solo, not having to put a single Disneyland Theme Park song on repeat! I pulled up to the window of my favorite coffee place in the neighboring town, Coffee Studio, ordered my 16oz. treat of a honey latte and with glee, I was off to push a cart that would soon hold the groceries for my family! Yee-haw! This is exactly why I enjoy running errands. Solo, with my awesome coffee in hand! Ah, the little things!
