For some reason that I can’t pinpoint, this year’s fall seems to have absolutely flown by. Our crisp morning and warm afternoon temps have definitely dropped. Not like central Idaho or eastern Idaho temps, but our temps are much cooler than a month ago, when my kids were outside cruising up and down our lane on their bikes without jackets on. Pictured below, are shots of an unusually friendly butterfly and prior to the temperature drop, photos that include one of our beautiful and tropical hibiscus flowers before it succumbed to several hard freezes.

Concerning the butterfly, Little Red came racing into the house on a warm and sunny fall day, telling me about this butterfly that landed on her bicycle seat and wasn’t flying away. Man, oh man, was I able to go all Japanese tourist on this butterfly and get a ton of photos! Sidenote: I’m not stereotyping; it’s a fact that’s been witnessed at Disneyland and while trailing sheep, just like Basque people would be mute without the use of our hands. Anyhoo, then Little Lady got ahold of my phone and took a bunch of photos; the two that include the flowers and the butterfly that was experimenting with being a squatter. Ha.
Next week, the pumpkins and gourds will be tossed over into the pasture for the goats and donkeys to munch on. I’m toying with the idea of putting our Christmas lights on the fencing down our lane and on the trees this weekend before it gets even cooler. Of course, our lights won’t be flipped on until the day after the Turkey and fixings have been consumed, put in the fridge or freezer and we all go to bed with painfully full, yet happy stomachs. Mmm . . . nummy, nummy, nummy!
