My girls and I are big fans of Disney’s The Parent Trap, starring Hayley Mills and Maureen O’Hara and many other actors (the list is really long). A cool fact you may not know, is that Maureen O’Hara moved out to Boise a few years ago before passing away in 2015, http://idahostatesman.com/news/local/community/boise/article40744893.html .
In a recent article in the local paper, it was said that when this Hollywood legend was living here, she enjoyed going to a consignment store just outside of Boise with her grandson, a Boise resident. Lucky for us, a great number of her personal items were going to be sold at this store for two days. In the car we jumped and away we drove! On day two that is. It’s not like I wasn’t thinking with a clear mind and felt a grand idea would be to take Little Lady, Little Red and a cranky Little Man of a late afternoon with a bunch of other humans.
Walking in, there were a lot of people but nothing that resembled the Black Friday masses featured on the nightly news. Thank God, otherwise, we’d have been outta there! Mama doesn’t do crazy crowds. Anyhoo, there were perfume bottles, hats (pretty picked over), clothes, fashion accessories and Wedgewood China. I was not about to spend $65 for an okay looking straw hat or sleepwear. Many clothing items were in the $200-$300 category.
A blue silk scarf with white polka dots caught my eye. I checked out the price and hot diggity, we had a winner! Little Red came across a pink scarf that she has sported for three days now. A cream tie with red and dark tan accents was Little Lady’s find.
One observation; Maureen O’Hara wasn’t the most coordinated when it came to drinking coffee. Little Red’s scarf has some coffee spots on it and I saw spots on some of the clothes that were for sale. That gave me a chuckle. Pictured below, this too made me laugh. I wonder if this sold because even if someone is a fan, I can’t imagine purchasing a wheelchair? But then again, those could be some cool wheels!
This was a fun day for my Littles who enjoy watching old movies with their mama. And during the next viewing of The Parent Trap, we may just have to wear some snazzy attire from one of the main stars!
