The other day, the Littles and I returned home after running a couple of errands. To say they were famished by the time we got home, would be accurate. Once we were all out of the car and settled in the house, Little Lady busted out some hummus, small pita bread rounds, baby carrots and sliced cucumbers from our garden. She spread the hummus on the pita rounds and then placed cucumbers or carrots on them and soon after, gobbled it up. Little Red and Little Man benefitted from this since Little Lady was kind enough to fix each them a plate of this yummy goodness before putting on her feed sack and helping herself! Ha, ha.
In short, this is a pretty healthy and easy lunch for your wee bambinos when school starts. It’s also easy for a child as young as a first grader, to make for him/herself. My chicks have been making their lunches for awhile. Little Lady has been at it for two or three years and Little Red, for about a year. They do a good job of packing a balanced lunch. However, I’ve been known to bust the occasional Halloween candy stash. But seriously, what parent hasn’t? Sneaky little suckers. Ha, ha.
