My taste buds love chocolate. My taste buds really love dark chocolate. My taste buds also enjoy ice cream. When chocolate sauce and ice cream are paired up, it’s a beautiful thing. At least for me.
This past weekend, I had a get together at my house and chocolate fudge sauce was a necessity. I figured, why not make some from scratch since almost everything made from scratch is extremely yummy? I went to Pinterest and found an easy and tasty chocolate fudge sauce, courtesy of Grace and Good Eats~Simple & Delicious Recipes. This recipe calls for:
*8oz. unsweetened baker’s chocolate
*1 stick of (1/2 cup) unsalted butter
*2 cups sugar (I used coconut sugar, 1 to 1)
*1 cup whole milk
*1 tsp. vanilla
*1/2 tsp. cinnamon
*1 pinch salt (I did 2)
*1 pinch cayenne (I did 3 dashes of cayenne but test it with one dash/pinch before adding more)
*Combine the broken up chocolate squares, butter and sugar in a large saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly.
*Once this mixture is smooth, add the milk and keep stirring constantly for 2-3 more minutes.
*Remove from the heat and add the remaining ingredients and stir those in well.
*Pour into a glass container or small glass jars if you’re not using this all at one time. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks (as if it will last that long, ha!).
*To reheat, only reheat the amount of chocolate sauce that you will be using.
*Serving size is around 4 cups total.
This sauce is so easy to make, that Little Lady made the second batch.
While at the store, I came across coconut sugar, which caught my eye and prompted me to read the back. Coconut sugar is still a sugar but it has a lower glycemic index. Hot diggity! Something that’s unhealthy, just became a teesny bit less unhealthy!
Anyhoo, if you or your family happens to be craving a rich, tasty topping with a little kick for ice cream, whip up this recipe and enjoy! Cha-cha!
