We moved into our little house on our 5 beautiful acres back in the fall of 2015. We fell in love with the one bedroom, cabin-like home. The living areas are quite spacious. The kitchen is huge. The living room has an 19′ vaulted ceiling. The front porch extends the length of the house. There are so many things to love. We knew the little things we didn’t like would be ‘fixable’ and that there was a lot of potential. Our stunning remodeled barn, 5 acres of glorious land and the close proximity to town were all big pluses as well. How could we NOT love it here?
Bathroom Remodel
When we moved in, the home was decked out in a pinkish color on the walls, pickled pink woodwork and cabinets, mauve formica countertops and ‘navajo’ pink/mint/cream wallpaper and borders. It was certainly not my design style and I began dreaming as soon as we moved in. The bathroom was our first project. We went to work removing wallpaper and painting the cabinets. My husband used the 100 year old barn wood from the horse stalls in our barn to create a custom wood countertop. He installed white subway tile and we added a sink to make it a two sink bathroom. It was a fun process… but NEVER got finished. Mid-remodel is when we decided maybe we would be adding the addition, which would then make the bathroom window a doorway. So, we stopped mid-renovation and changed our focus. That bathroom is still not done, but my motto for a while now has been ‘SOMEDAY’ it will happen, so we keep working and waiting. Check out the process below!
