When you grow up with cousins, you tend to be very close with them since they’re pretty much siblings, just living in a home other than yours. With some moves from Idaho and Utah (met with them for a muy rapido coffee date), forward to now and one of my many cousins living in Seattle. My sis and I flew up for the weekend to help, hang out, and visit with her, her husband (briefly since he was headed out of town for work) and their almost six month old beautiful baby girl.
When Neeka and I weren’t snuggling or making ridiculous sounds and faces for our newest little cousin or reminiscing about our younger years growing up in southern Idaho, we grabbed a coffee or two, ate out a couple of times (I highly recommend Pablo y Pablo in Wallingford, specifically the chicken enchiladas with the green sauce and for your beverage, the winter sangria) and went to a couple of shops. One of my new favorite shops, is a beautiful colored glass candle holder store, glassybaby, http://glassybaby.com to find your nearest store or to place an order. These are not inexpensive candle holders but they are handmade right there and come in a variety of colors and glazes. With every sale,10% of that is donated to a charity to help people in need of financial or emotional assistance, http://glassybabywhitelightfund.org. The groupings of colors is such a clean and beautiful display in glassybaby, I could grab a coffee and a good book, hang out in there and relax. Aah . . .
Later on that same day after this visual treat, due to my cousin having credit at a manicure and pedicure business, we three gals went and got our phalanges prettied. I opted to get a manicure since my feet are currently hiding out in socks and boots, even in this mild winter weather. Plus, I’d never had a manicure before. Between the years when I was teaching, changing diapers and frequently washing my hands when the kids were babies and toddlers and having to do yardwork, trimming hoooves, etc., having pretty nails seemed completely impractical. I decided it was time for professional hands to spiff up my nails. I went with a lovely deep lavender that looks nice on my hands and compliments the colors of my outfits. Check it out! This color even works with hay!
Seattle was a fun time and the sun even came out for a bit while we were there. My sis and I credited the arrival of sunshine to our Idaho mojo. ‘Til we meet again, Emerald City!
