By these two recent mild action shots, one would never guess that this lipstick wearing, kid-spy-sporting-night-vision-goggles-in-broad-daylight-chick, has been struck with a headache and sore throat for two days now. Since Little Red had no fever and was determined to be there to get perfect attendance, I let her go to school today. Cootie season is upon us. My speedy drop in to the school later this morning, visually confirmed this fact.
Little Red had forgotten her winter hat in the car at morning drop off because her hands were full upon exiting (what girl doesn’t need two jackets and a winter coat just in case?). As I walked into the first set of school doors, no one was at the front desk so I pushed the buzzer (a safety measure implemented in several schools in the past few years). While waiting, I saw a lady who was manning the front desk, put a garbage bag lined wastebasket by a student who was lying on the cushioned bed/seat. Oh boy. Things get serious when you have a puker. After a few minutes, the lady appeared at the front, buzzed me in and when asked if she wanted us (another mom had shown up with lunches for her kids) to have her take these items to our kids or just have us do it, with eyes closed, she nodded yes to us running our kids’ belongings down to their rooms. Poor woman. It was only an hour and 20 minutes into the school day and it’d already been a rough one. Yikes. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better for everybody.
*Helpful hint numero uno- Greek yogurt helps to keep us healthy with it’s probiotics. I gotta buy some more Greek yogurt.
*Helpful hint numero dos- In the case of a vomiting child, especially a very young child, a pile of vomit is much easier to clean up than a trail. Observing this while teaching & being a mom to three, taught me this. Trust me on this one.
