Preparing for Bees
This week we had an exciting package arrive in preparation of our spring bees! Our first FLOW Hive beehive landed on our doorstep. Mr. Prairie and I are taking a beekeeping class in anticipation of getting some bees this spring. We are very much looking forward to learning more about saving these little creatures and making our own honey. Selling our honey at Farmer’s Markets and grocery stores SOME DAY would be fun… but for now, we plan to satisfy our personal love of honey and our desire to help SAVE THE BEES with a hive.
We spent a LOT of time researching what type of hive we wanted to try first.
Go the traditional route? Or try the newfangled FLOW hive we’ve been hearing so much about?
FLOW Hive
We decided to go with a FLOW Hive for many reasons. One big reason was the curiosity about whether it will work for us. We plan to try one traditional and one FLOW Hive so we can learn for ourselves which is best for us. The arrival of this package, though, was a cause for much excitement as we get one step closer to a self-sustaining life here on our little farm.
