This past weekend we spent in Sun Valley (www.sunvalley.com) for the 125th Annual Idaho, Utah & Wyoming Woolgrowers. Along our drive, we got to see an incredible sunset just north of Mountain Home that I had to stop for to get a good picture. The trip to Sun Valley was uneventful and fairly speedy (thank you Jesus) and only required a quick stop at Atkinson’s Market for Cold Ease, fiber gummies (Little Man’s bio would include a love of Thomas the Train and not of daily bowel movements) & a potty break once we drove into the small town of Bellvue.
While my dad was attending meetings, we ladies and offspring (Mister was working at the Hailey office Friday) watched old movies, enjoyed a cozy fire, visited, swam in the beautiful heated pool where I think I’d be okay exiting every day with pruney fingers and toes, walks around the lodge grounds and a walk into Ketchum . . . Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain. Ha, ha, ha. The girls had a great time using a big closet as a makeshift elevator but were rather bossy about who could use the “elevator” and who couldn’t. I may file a complaint with the Lodge. Ha, ha, ha.
Saturday evening, my sister, Neeka and I presented an award to my dad on behalf of the Idaho Woolgrowers for his years of being in the sheep industry. Instead of a speech, Neeka thought of us doing memes to sum up our dad. It went very well and was fun to do with an audience of families in the livestock business. For those of you familiar with dad, you’ll appreciate these and for those of you who don’t know my dad, here’s a snapshot. A few of my favorites were;
Go Irish!
That’s a pretty lamb!
Pray.
Do you like my new Pendleton? (who our wool is sold to and he’s referring to his new shirt every Christmas)
I pray for you every day.
Look ’em in the eye.
As Neeka said, the employees of the Sun Valley Lodge probably love this down to earth crowd since people in livestock are so used to waiting on others, they appreciate being waited on. Giddyup!
