On our way down the hill to school this morning, we had snow hitting the windshield. Giddyup! I’m looking forward to a couple of snow days this school year. It’s so fun to hear that ping on my phone from the district office letting parents know that school has been canceled for the day. As a mom that means sleeping in, getting a good fire going in the fireplace (my hubby, Mister, says I’m the best at wadding up huge amounts of paper to place under the logs and then having the fire die) after a couple of tries, hot chocolate, coffee and a good movie, which is usually an old movie since I have given birth to two old souls (possibly three but for now Little Man is all about Thomas the Train).
As for the sin part of the blog title, my youngest daughter, Little Red, is in her second year of First Communion & First Reconciliation classes at our local Catholic parish. A friend of mine, also a former teacher, has her daughter in the same class. We were approached by one of the teachers to see if we could volunteer in the next class to help kids practice for First Reconciliation. I began to chuckle and jokingly told my friend, that when the kids begin to tell us their sins, we could wave them off and say, “You think that’s a sin? Heck, I got some stories about college that will let you know what a sin is, kid.” I then made the motion of drinking a beverage to my friend with the idea that the next class after volunteering, we should go grab a coffee but I failed to say coffee, so I looked like I was communicating that we should go get sauced while our daughters were learning more about Jesus and the Eucharist. Yeah, communication was a tad muddy at that moment. Man, five years out of the classroom and clearly communicating goes downhill fast. Ha.
